Why do physical therapists try and bill low level laser as infrared therapy?
I'm an auditor and I'm getting annoyed and continually seeing this.
I don't use either and I'm not involved in billing, so I can only speculate. My best guesses are: Infrared CPT code can be used as long as it's listed with a modified -22 to denote an "unusual modality" Laser is not billable under medicare, so for consistency in a clinic that sees a high medicare population, they may have eliminated the CPT code from their repitoire...fully realizing they are not going to get crap from Medicare anyway for a modality, but it would be "more legal" than billing it under Ther ex. I'm not saying it' right ...the whole CPT code system needs to be done away with anyway and causes more problems than it's worth. When Medicare realizes that all the red tape they've created is costing more money to enforce than it is in reducing costs, it will change. ...and hopefully your job will get a lot easier.
DPL Deep Penetrating Light Therapy
Dpl therapy led light treatment pain relief system is for the treatment of pain, relief of muscle and joint aches, sprains, back pain and the pain and stiffness associated with arthritis. the dpl system uses a form of energy called photons to penetrate deep into the body easing pain and repairing damaged tissues. the dpl therapy system is a non-invasive, drug free therapy which can be applied to your specific and individual needs. light therapy has been shown in over 40 years of independent research worldwide to deliver powerful therapeutic benefits to living tissues and organisms. both visible red and infrared light have been shown to affect at least 24 different positive changes at a cellular level. visible red light at a wavelength of 660nm penetrates tissue to a depth of about 8-10 mm. it is very beneficial in treating problems close to the surface of the skin such as wounds, cuts, scars, and treating infection.

Whats the diffrence betwwen 650nm LED light & 650nm LASER light an infrared lights used for skin rejuvenation?
there is all sorts of anting aging light therapy out there on the market but what is the difference betwwen 650nm LED light and 650nm LASER light? and also infrared light? and which ones have the best anti aging effects?
The difference between an led that emits 650nm light and a laser (diode most likely) that emits 650nm light is going to be how much light is emitted and how tightly packed together it is. The laser will emit a beam that will stay roughly the same size (particularly when collimated with a special lens) for a large distance while the LED will spread out immediately. As for which wavelength has the best anti-aging effect? None of them. I can't find any scientific evidence that they at all help stop aging.
Rotator cuff injury/ tendinitis?
hello
So recently i got diagnosed with tendinitis in my shoulder or as the U.S. likes to call it. A rotator cuff injury.
I got told it's an old injury that is reoccurring.
Now i have been doing physio 3 times a week
Heat therapy
laser therapy
infrared therapy
electroshock therapy.
on top of that.. creams and anti-inflammatory x 3 a day
NOTHING is working. i used to have no pain in the morning. Now i wake up in pain. On top of that.. something that worries me more is it pops...
Like i can feel my muscle Popping under my skin.. it's not the bone, like when you crack your fingers.
Has anyone ever had that?
additional info...
I am 27, a little overweight. i go to the gym daily, so have an active life.
hope someone can give me a little help. Or tips to make it hurt less... would be great... i miss working out :-S
thanks :-)
I recommend you see a orthopedic medical specialist for your condition and have them perform a diagnostic test. That way, you can find out the nature & extent of the problem and a treatment plan can be formed. Since all other treatment has failed, you might want to try alternative medicine like acupuncture or aroma therapy. Good luck.
